Far above the arctic circle, in the deep woods of Lapland, music is made differently. Markus and Joakim, two friends from Gällivare who shared a common interest in music formed a rock band in 2012. As rockers they played at many distinguished venues including Sweden Rock Festival.
As time went by they both realized that their hearts were with electronic music and they formed Polarbearz – a project that reinvents Swedish electropop by adding a Northern perspective. The new single “Recognize” is about being different. Snapping synths, soothing vocals of the young vocalist Angelica Larsson and a reverberant foghorn is proving that being unique is a virtue. Money, status and influence don’t matter.
