Sebastian Konrad on Creativity, Connection and Coming Full Circle With House Music

For artists working in electronic music today, it’s easy to become preoccupied with numbers, algorithms and the constant pressure to move faster. Sebastian Konrad sees things differently. For the Swiss born DJ and producer, the focus has always been on creating moments that people remember, whether that’s through a record, a DJ set or the wider creative world that surrounds his music.

That mindset has helped shape a career that has steadily expanded beyond Switzerland. Performances at venues including Drumsheds in London and Klein Phönix in Istanbul, alongside appearances across Mexico, Bali and Mykonos, have established an international presence. Along the way, his productions have attracted support from a wide range of respected artists including Peggy Gou, Mau P, Luuk van Dijk, DJ Heartstring, Mind Against, Adriatique, Chris Avantgarde, Max Styler, Silvie Loto, Trikk, Mr. Belt & Wezol, Animal Trainer, Franc Fala and Mahmut Orhan, among many others.

For Konrad, though, those milestones are the result of a much longer process rather than the goal itself.

“I think that never giving up and always putting 200% into the music is something the audience can feel, and it resonates with them. That energy has helped me grow, little by little, step by step. Other defining moments were signing with a management team and a strong booking agency, which allowed me to take my career to a more professional level.”

His approach reflects a belief that careers are built gradually. Rather than chasing rapid success, Konrad speaks about momentum, consistency and continuing to invest in the work itself. That perspective is echoed in the artists who have embraced his productions over the past year.

“Receiving support from DJs I admire, such as Mau P, Luuk van Dijk, Peggy Gou, and Silvie Loto, has been incredibly meaningful. Moments like these are a confirmation that you’re on the right path and that your music is being appreciated by world class DJs and producers.”

The music itself has also come full circle.

While his productions have explored different shades of electronic music over the years, house remains the foundation that everything else grows from. Rather than seeing experimentation as a departure from his roots, Konrad views it as an essential part of finding his own voice.

“Being part of the world of house music allows you to create unique moments on the dancefloor, depending on the setting, the timing, and the crowd. That’s the beauty of DJing. It’s a conversation between the DJ and the audience. My sound has come full circle: I started with lo fi house music, and now I’m back to house music, which is the genre I love the most. I think it’s natural for an artist to explore and experiment. That’s exactly what makes the journey exciting. I see myself continuing with house music, but without feeling restricted by boundaries. I’m also a big fan of groovy techno and more minimal house, so I could definitely see myself exploring projects in those directions as well.”

That openness explains why Konrad’s sets often move between different shades of house music without feeling confined to a single lane. His productions share the same philosophy, drawing on groove, percussion and atmosphere while remaining flexible enough to evolve alongside his influences.

Music, however, is only one part of a broader creative outlook.

Alongside DJing and production, Konrad has developed a strong visual identity through fashion, design and creative direction. Rather than treating those interests as separate pursuits, he sees them as different expressions of the same creative instinct.

“I’ve always been drawn to creativity and the process of creating. That’s what keeps me motivated, whether it’s organizing a party, designing a flyer or logo, putting together an outfit, or directing a photoshoot. All of these creative outlets feed into one another and help my inner creative child continue to grow.”

It’s an approach that reflects the increasingly multidisciplinary nature of electronic music culture, where visual identity, events and music often exist as parts of the same creative language. For Konrad, each project informs the next, creating a body of work that extends beyond the dancefloor without losing sight of what brought him there in the first place.

Ultimately, everything comes back to a simple belief in what music can do.

“I want people to know that this entire project started from a belief in the power of music. Music gives us so much, and I want people to experience that through my work, my shows, and my own productions.”

As his international profile continues to grow, that philosophy remains unchanged. The venues become bigger, the support list becomes longer and the opportunities continue to expand, but the ambition stays remarkably consistent: to create music that connects with people, wherever they find themselves on the dancefloor.
