Few artists have managed to shape electronic music quite like Deep Forest. Since introducing the world to the Grammy Award-winning Boheme and the era-defining classic Sweet Lullaby, Eric Mouquet has spent decades blurring the lines between electronic production, world music and ambient storytelling. His latest remix continues that legacy.
Released via MOTH Music (Mother of The Heart), Deep Forest’s reimagining of South African folk artist Seth Tabatznik’s ‘Shining For Love’ transforms the original into an expansive melodic house journey that feels equally suited to sunrise dancefloors and solitary headphone sessions.
Opening with delicate pan flute melodies and Seth Tabatznik’s heartfelt vocals, the remix unfolds patiently before introducing rolling percussion, warm basslines and hypnotic synth textures. Rather than overwhelming the original song, Deep Forest allows each element room to breathe, creating an organic sense of movement where emotion remains at the centre of the production.
The result is a beautifully balanced record that blends uplifting energy with meditative depth, recalling the cinematic qualities of artists such as Anyma, Massano and ARTBAT while remaining unmistakably Deep Forest.
Speaking about the remix, Eric Mouquet explains: “My intention was to create space around Seth’s voice, letting it breathe within a peaceful groove supported by flute textures and spacious delays. Every element was carefully placed to serve the feeling of the track, creating a warm sense of movement where rhythm, melody and atmosphere come together naturally. Just feeling good, moving your body, and dancing for love.”
For Seth Tabatznik, the collaboration marks another chapter in a musical journey rooted in spirituality and nature. Originally raised in London and now based in South Africa’s Western Cape, the singer-songwriter crafts acoustic folk inspired by ancient wisdom, with influences from mentor Nick Mulvey and guitarist Rainer Scheurenbrand. Deep Forest’s interpretation elevates those themes into a rich electronic landscape without losing the intimacy of the original performance.
