Following the success of his debut album Teach Me, Scottish DJ and producer Ros T is back with a fresh release that perfectly captures the spirit of 2025. Teaming up with fellow Scotsmen Church Street Shuffle, the result is Dancing by the Loch—an infectious blend of feel-good grooves, vivacious rhythms, and catchy vocal hooks that is sure to light up dancefloors worldwide. Out now on Perfect Havoc, this collaboration showcases a fusion of traditional Scottish sounds with Ros T’s signature electronic style, marking another milestone in his rapidly expanding career.
The track, with its emotive depth and upbeat energy, is a perfect example of how Ros T continues to push the boundaries of his sound. Drawing on his unique blend of catchy disco influences and atmospheric depth, Dancing by the Loch is a vibrant and alternative dance anthem. Church Street Shuffle, known for their innovative take on traditional Scottish music, bring their signature touch to the table, elevating the track’s emotional appeal. This marks a seamless collaboration where both acts fuse their strengths, resulting in a track that feels fresh yet deeply rooted in cultural heritage.
“I’ve been talking with Church Street Shuffle about doing a track together for ages,” says Ros T. “It was my partner’s brother’s band that finally made it happen, and we clicked straight away. Their traditional Scottish sound fused perfectly with my electronic style. It was a fun and adventurous experience to create something so different.”
The collaboration isn’t just about blending genres—it’s about feeling connected to one’s roots. For Ros T, working with Church Street Shuffle brought him closer to his childhood home on the Isle of Skye. “It takes me back to my Island/Highland life. I resampled some of their traditional sounds and turned them into synths. It was an exciting process to turn fiddles and traditional instruments into textures that fit into the madness of the track.”
Since the release of Teach Me, which topped the iTunes Electronic Albums chart and earned support from BBC Radio 1, KISS FM, and Complex UK, Ros T has solidified his place as a forward-thinking force in the electronic music scene. With over 22 million global streams, multiple #1 singles, and collaborations with labels like Nervous Records and Altra Moda Music, the Scottish artist’s career shows no signs of slowing down.
“I’m always learning new things,” Ros T reflects on his evolving sound. “As I learn more about myself and where I want to take my life, my music changes. I eventually want to score movie soundtracks—like Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein did for Stranger Things. I’m working on new projects alongside my Ros T project, and it all feeds into my music.”
With support from music icons like Annie Mac, Pete Tong, and Fatboy Slim, Ros T is gearing up for an exciting 2025. “Getting a play from Annie Mac just before she retired was a ‘holy shit, I’ve made it’ moment for me,” he admits. “But they’re all little wins. The bigger picture is what matters. I’m pushing for the next big thing.”
The connection to his roots is a central theme in his music. Growing up on the Isle of Skye, Ros T credits his friends and family for supporting his career from the very start. “Scotland and the Isle of Skye are huge parts of who I am. It’s great to see more Scottish and Celtic music getting the praise it deserves. My mum, who was always ballsy and brave, gave me the self-belief I needed to follow this path. She always said, ‘Many will doubt you, some will try to slow you down, but just get on with it and do you.’”
With over 400,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and five #1 singles under his belt, Ros T continues to stay grounded. “I’m very grounded because my partner, friends, and family keep me that way,” he says. “I’ve always been aware of who I am and where I come from. I only want to grow as an artist, not change who I am.”
Looking ahead, Ros T’s fans can expect more exciting collaborations and projects. “2025 is going to be a year of many releases,” he reveals. “There are some new collaborative artists I’m working with, and I’m finalizing my second album. It’s a big year ahead.”
And what would Ros T say to describe Dancing by the Loch in three words? “Different, fun, and electric. But take that with a pinch of salt,” he laughs.
With Dancing by the Loch, Ros T continues to evolve and surprise, embracing the journey ahead with enthusiasm and determination. It’s clear that this year is shaping up to be another major chapter in his already impressive career.
