Born from a reworked idea and shaped through cross-continental collaboration, “Wherever You Are” marks another confident step in the producer’s evolving Afro House journey. In this interview, he breaks down how the track came together, the roles of Vidojean X, Oliver Loenn, and engineer Alex, and what drives his sound as he continues carving out his own lane.
HMWL – “Wherever You Are” feels like a powerful blend of groove and emotion. What sparked the idea behind the track?
Nitefreak – The track actually started as a breakdown of another song I had made. I wasn’t happy with the musical elements, so I kept the drum programming and sent it over to Vido to build on.
HMWL – You collaborated with Vidojean X and Oliver Loenn on this record. How did that collaboration happen
Nitefreak – I connected with Vido on Instagram after hearing some of their music. The relationship grew from there, and that’s how the collaboration started.
HMWL – What drew you to Oliver Loenn’s sound and voice for this track?
Nitefreak – My connection was really with Vido. He brought Oliver into the process.
HMWL – The track balances peak-time energy with deep, melodic layers. How do you approach achieving that balance in your production?
Nitefreak – Alex, the engineer, is the one who really shapes that. I come with the idea, the structure, and the feel — then he takes it and refines everything to make it hit the way it should.
HMWL – How does “Wherever You Are” reflect where your sound is right now compared to earlier releases?
Nitefreak – My approach hasn’t changed. What you hear is the influence and interpretation of the artists involved in the record — that’s what gives it its difference.
HMWL – Walk us through your studio process for this record.
Nitefreak – It started from reworking a previous idea. I kept the drums and sent them to Vido, who added his touch. After that, the project went to Alex for the mix and master to bring everything together.

HMWL – The Afro House scene is always evolving. How do you keep your sound authentic while still pushing forward?
Nitefreak – I’ve built my own lane over the years. Now it’s just trial and error — if something feels right, I follow it. If I hit a block, I’ll send the idea to other producers I trust and see what they can bring.
HMWL – You’ve had support from artists like Black Coffee, Diplo, and Keinemusik. What does that mean to you?
Nitefreak – It’s motivating and humbling. It tells me the music is reaching the right places.
HMWL – If you could describe the feeling you want listeners to experience when they hear “Wherever You Are,” what would it be?
Nitefreak – Presence. Connection. Something that stays with you.
HMWL – What’s next after this release? Any upcoming collaborations or projects to watch for?
Nitefreak – There are a lot of projects in progress — nothing final yet. Potential collaborations with Murphy Cubic and Dwson are on the table, and I’m looking forward to those because I really respect their work.
