Portland-based producer FENRA has unveiled his single, ‘COFFEE’, released on October 3rd, 2025 via independent imprint 6x Records. ‘COFFEE’ serves as the first taste of FENRA’s upcoming debut EP, Delusional, which is slated for release on November 28th, 2025. The track was mastered by Aneek Thapar, known for his work with Rival Consoles and Max Cooper, a fitting touchpoint for FENRA’s genre-defying sonic signature.
The single is a lush, slow-burn exploration of sound, melding left-field ambient, downtempo, and acoustic textures into a shimmering, introspective journey. At its core, the track features pitched-down vocals, a hammered dulcimer, and an array of ethereal pads, conjuring an atmosphere that feels both cinematic and deeply personal.
FENRA, the alias of Portland producer B Laws, is no stranger to the world of music. Born in Santa Rosa, California, he grew up surrounded by art and was first captivated by harmony while listening to church hymns alongside his grandmother. After teaching himself guitar at 14, he went on to explore a wide palette of sound, experimenting with synths, vocals, and drums in various bands that toured across the US, Europe, and Asia.
Drawing on influences ranging from Caribou, Four Tet, and Floating Points to the minimalism of Philip Glass and the soulful timbre of Gloria Ann Taylor, FENRA weaves a tapestry that resonates with both emotion and texture. His music speaks to fans of Bonobo, DJ Koze, and other forward-thinking electronic artists who blur the boundaries between the synthetic and the organic.
Of the single, FENRA shared: ‘COFFEE’ might be my favorite song on Delusional. The hammered dulcimer / pitched vocal combo is not something I had heard before and I really like the way it turned out.” Both intimate and expansive, ‘COFFEE’ marks a promising start for FENRA. With the full EP arriving this November, listeners can expect more genre-fluid explorations from this rising artist at the intersection of ambient and electronic.
