Hi Darin, welcome to House Music With Love and thanks for taking the time to chat to us. How are you today?
Thanks so much for having me! I’m just starting to wind down with a cup of hot tea after spending all afternoon and night in my studio.
When you look back to founding Perspectives Digital in 2010, what did you hope the label would become and how does that compare to where it stands today?
When I launched Perspectives Digital in 2010, my goal was pretty simple: to create a platform for music with emotional depth and forward-thinking production—tracks that could stand the test of time, not just chase trends.
I had no idea the label would grow into a global community with fans and artists across nearly every continent. Looking at where we are today, it has far exceeded anything I could have imagined back then. What started as a passion project is now a respected home for artists who push boundaries and elevate the Melodic sound.
What does reaching the 15-year milestone mean to you personally and artistically?
I’m not gonna lie, the thought of my label turning 15 this year is really a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me 🥲 15 years of blood, sweat, and tears, and even moving halfway across the world to another continent in order to further pursue that passion.
Personally, it’s a reminder of the persistence and love required to keep an independent label running in an industry that changes every few months. Artistically, it’s proof that there’s still a real appetite for meaningful, emotionally resonant dance music.
Reaching this milestone fills me with gratitude above all else. None of this would have been possible without the artists who believed in us, the fans who supported us, and the global community that continues to inspire new ideas every single day.
How did you approach curating the “15 Years of Perspectives” compilation, and what ties these tracks together thematically?
We reached out to our roster several months in advance to let them know we were planning something truly special for the anniversary. The response was incredible and we received dozens of submissions from long-time Perspectives artists as well as fresh new names eager to be part of this milestone.
The final selection blends familiar faces with exciting newcomers, including artists who have released on respected imprints like Stil vor Talent, Simulate, ERRORR, Ritter Butzke, and Einmusika.
In the end, we kept it intentionally tight with 6 standout tracks that felt like the perfect balance between our roots and our future. The compilation is a snapshot of our journey—where we’ve come from, and where the sound of Perspectives Digital is heading next.
The compilation features artists from eight different countries. How central is global diversity to the label’s identity?
Global diversity has always been at the heart of Perspectives Digital. From day one, the label was meant to be a space for international dialogue, where artists from different cultures, scenes, and musical backgrounds can come together and share their own perspective on electronic music.
The truth is, our industry can still feel exclusive, with certain groups or regions receiving disproportionate visibility. That lack of representation limits creativity and narrows the evolution of the scene. It’s something I care about deeply. Through PD, I try to champion a wide range of voices, whether that’s stylistic diversity, cultural diversity, or simply artists who don’t fit into the usual spotlight.
There’s still a lot of work to do across the industry, but I believe the future of electronic music becomes stronger, richer, and more innovative when we make room for more perspectives.
Perspectives Digital has been influential in shaping the modern melodic sound. How has your vision for the label evolved over the years?
In the beginning, my focus was more rooted in classic Progressive House. Over time, as the scene evolved, so did we—embracing Melodic Techno and Indie Dance sounds, while still keeping that emotional core.
Today the vision is far more expansive and much less about fitting into a specific genre box. What matters most is craftsmanship, authenticity, and emotional impact. If a track feels honest—if it moves you—then it belongs on Perspectives.
With support from artists like Solomun, Tale of Us, and Nora En Pure, how do you balance staying true to your vision while navigating a rapidly changing scene?
It’s always flattering to receive support from major artists. Trends will always come and go, but our priority is to release timeless music—tracks that still feel fresh and emotionally relevant 5 or 10 years later.
We stay aware of where the scene is heading, and we adapt and innovate when it serves the music, but never at the expense of the label’s identity. That balance between evolution and integrity is ultimately what keeps us relevant.
What do you look for when signing new talent, and what makes you say, “This belongs on Perspectives Digital”?
I look for artists who bring a strong emotional signature. It’s less about technical perfection and more about whether the track makes you feel something—goosebumps, tension, a sense of journey.
I’m also drawn to artists who are hungry, open-minded, and committed to growing. The most successful artists on the label are the ones who treat music as more than a hobby. They live it, experiment with it, and constantly push their own boundaries.
When a submission carries real character, emotional depth, and a sense of storytelling, and does it in a way that genuinely makes me feel something, that’s when I know it’s a Perspectives Digital release.
How does running the label impact your own work as a DJ, producer and curator?
Running the label constantly sharpens my ears. I listen to hundreds of demos, promos, and works-in-progress every month, so I’m always exposed to new ideas. That pushes me creatively and keeps me accountable to a high standard. On the DJ side, it gives me the advantage of testing unreleased material early, shaping how it evolves. Curating for the label and for my own sets go hand-in-hand and they feed off each other.
You’ve welcomed Min the Universe as a new partner. What does he bring to the next chapter of Perspectives Digital?
Min and I met in Ibiza last summer while co-organizing a show. At the time, he was working with Lelantus Records, who were our event partners. We stayed in touch, and eventually he approached me with the idea of collaborating to expand the Perspectives brand. The timing felt perfect, and we quickly realized how much we could learn from each other.
I bring over two decades of experience in the music industry, while Min brings a deep background in finance, investment, and strategic growth from working full time on Wall Street. Together, we complement each other’s strengths. This partnership marks a new chapter for the label, one where we can scale in a sustainable, professional way while staying true to the artistic soul that’s defined Perspectives from day one.
The remix contest for “Janissaries” opens the door to emerging producers. What inspired you to launch it at this moment in the label’s journey?
As we celebrate 15 years, it felt important to give something back to the community. Remix contests have always been one of the best ways to discover fresh talent. “Janissaries” is a track rooted in storytelling and culture, making it a great canvas for creative reinterpretation. This contest is our way of inviting new voices into the family and opening doors for the next wave of producers.
Why was Berlin (and Ritter Butzke specifically) the right place to celebrate the 15-year anniversary?
Berlin is the epicenter of electronic music culture, and my current home, so it felt like the only place to celebrate this milestone. Ritter Butzke, in particular, is a venue that truly values artistic expression. It’s a space where music-first events still thrive, and where both artists and audiences show up with genuine passion.
Living in Berlin has allowed me to connect with an incredible range of artists, labels, promoters, and creative communities. Immersing myself in this environment opened doors and opportunities that simply wouldn’t have existed anywhere else. It played a huge role in shaping both my career and the evolution of the label.
Our 15 year anniversary showcase at Ritter Butzke really brought that journey full circle. Seeing the room packed, hearing our artists’ music on a world-class soundsystem, and feeling that electric connection with the crowd was deeply meaningful. It was a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come, and what becomes possible when you stay committed, keep evolving, and continue investing in the long-term vision.
Finally, what has been the most rewarding memory in the last 15 years of running Perspectives Digital?
There have been so many defining moments, but the most rewarding has been watching artists grow from unknown names to international touring acts. Seeing their careers develop, knowing the label played even a small part—that’s incredibly fulfilling and inspiring. The messages from fans saying a release helped them through a tough time or inspired them creatively… those moments make all the challenges worth it!
