Recognised as a “rising Midlander” by DJ Mag, the increasingly popular DJ and producer Josh Gregg continues to innovate with his new label project, Poles Apart. After launching the label in May 2024 with the energetic single “Connection” and following up with “Film Noir” in June, Josh returns with perhaps the most impactful release on Poles Apart yet: “Walk Your Way.” Download or stream it now: https://ingrv.es/walk-your-way-sfu-b.
Unquestioningly fusing club-focused and DJ-friendly nuances with hooky, on-trend elements, “Walk Your Way” is not only a standout piece in the rapidly growing Poles Apart catalogue but also a Talisman release for Josh Gregg. It signposts a new era of maturity and confidence in his artistic vision at just the right time, with electronic dance music sitting firmly in one of its most diverse and genre-bending periods to date.
To celebrate his latest release, we invited Josh to let us in on a selection of some of his favourite apt ‘love’ house songs.
Josh Gregg – Walk Your Way [Poles Apart]
Walk Your Way is the third release on my 100% solo imprint Poles Apart. It’s the first record to feature my voice in such raw form – been a super fun track to see develop. Not a traditional love song but the artwork features my love so it counts!
Home & Garden – Sexuality (JT’s Porno Beat Down Mix) [Classic Music Co.]
Exactly as it says on the tin. That live bassline does DAMAGE in the club too – a percy.
Dan Ghenacia + Shonky – Close To The Edge [Apollonia]
Always a moment when this record comes out. One of the most iconic tunes from the Apollonia catalogue. Come closer, take my hand, put your arms around me.
Larry Heard + Mr White – The Sun Can’t Compare (Long Version) [Alleviated Records]
Larry Heard’s finest work in my eyes. Saw them do it live at Dekmantel in 2017 and may have shed a small tear.
Ben Hauke – Forever Me [Last Year at Marienbad]
Gorgeous soulful garage house. Ben is making really interesting, varied stuff, and this is one of his strongest, in my opinion.
Kai Alcé – Slide It In [Toy Tonics]
One of the best jazzy-house producers of all time, straight from Detroit. Smooth as butter.
Death On The Balcony – Addict For Your Love [Exploited]
Always keep this one in the bag. I’ve got a Rekordbox playlist called ‘Morning After The Night Before’ and this is perfect for those sunrise moments.
Julius Papp – Libido (Sunset Drums) [Estereo Recordings]
Tracks don’t need to have words to be love songs. Sexiest drums ever – amazing tool for blends.
Orlando Voorn – Tenderness [Heist]
Really underrated tune from the Dutch pioneer in 2022. Always have to check out a new Heist release too, Dam Swindle have unbelievable taste.
Ten City – That’s The Way Love Is (Acieeed Mix) [Atlantic Records]
The best house tune ever? Quite possibly. Byron Stingily’s vocals from ’89 still sound perfect today. Getting goosebumps listening to it now.
