Artist has already received compliments from Nick Warren, Cid Ind and Martin Garcia
Today we live in an era where the success of many electronic music artists is measured by the number of likes, the number of plays on their songs, Beatport rankings, and no longer by coherence and excellence in the selection and construction of a set at a party.
However, some DJs still stand by their mission to build a solid career that is not based on music production, but exclusively on the art of DJing and creating a sublime experience on the dance floor – this is the case of Brazilian Pk Live.
If you look for him on Spotify, you won’t find him, as he doesn’t release his own music and 100% of his sound material is on Soundcloud in the form of sets recorded at home, at events or for renowned podcasts.
A DJ and producer since 2007 and a clubber since the mid-90s, he does not have a huge following on social media, but he has accumulated something that is much more valuable than that: real feedback from artists like Nick Warren, Cid Inc. and Martin Garcia, as he confirms below:
“Once I was playing at a party I produce, Unik ID, and I was in the last 15 minutes of my set when I got the word to hold off for another 30 minutes… the reason? Nick Warren had arrived and commented that he liked my sound and asked them to let me play a bit longer. It didn’t really hit me at the time, but later in the dressing room he confirmed that he was enjoying my sound”.
Unik ID is the party that Pk Live has been producing alongside partners Gui Milani and Pedro Capelossi since 2017, which in its first edition brought names like Darin Epsilon and Cid Inc together; there’s even an exciting footage of the end of Pk Live’s set in this same edition [see below] and even his full set, which you can listen to here.
UniK ID contributed to the consolidation and ” revival ” of the Progressive House scene in São Paulo, but in addition to it, Pk Live is also one of the creators of Progression (a night dedicated to Progressive House that takes place exclusively at the renowned D-Edge), is a partner in Secret Encounters, another itinerant party with a focus on Progressive and Deep House, as well as a partner and resident DJ at Inprogress.
What’s new is that the artist is opening a new YouTube channel that will be a space for dialogues about electronic music in general, but with a focus on Progressive House, sharing some of his experiences and knowledge, and even bringing in guests for chats.
So, if you’re a Progressive House fan and like to keep an eye on the movements of the scene, we recommend that you follow Pk Live’s work more closely.
“The essence of DJing goes beyond making people dance, it makes them be there with body and soul. The real DJ is much more than a ‘Jukebox’ that plays what everyone wants to hear, he surprises and plays something that the dance floor didn’t know they wanted to hear.”
