Golden Bug is a master of the Krautrock genre..
French electronic maestro Golden Bug – continues to redefine sonic landscapes with his latest single, “Hi No Tori,” a preview of his upcoming album Piscolabis II. Following the intriguing “L’effet domino,” this new track showcases his innovative sound, merging hypnotic loops, robotic rhythms, and futuristic effects with piercing guitars and ethereal vocals.
“Hi No Tori” sees Golden Bug teaming up with The Limiñanas and Japanese artist Vega Voga, whose haunting voice adds a mystical layer to the composition. The song evokes the image of a phoenix rising, a fitting metaphor for its transformative soundscape. Drawing inspiration from Can’s legendary track “Mother Sky,” Golden Bug imbues the song with a raw, psychedelic energy while maintaining an organic touch that is uniquely his own.
The collaboration seamlessly blends their distinct musical styles, creating a transcendent experience that transports listeners across cultural and sonic boundaries. The track’s rich, layered production and innovative use of diverse elements exemplify Golden Bug’s mastery in pushing the boundaries of electronic music.
Golden Bug describes his creative process as a fusion of his admiration for Can’s psychedelic universe with the unique aesthetics of his collaborators. He explains that he’s “A big fan of Can, especially their classic “Mother Sky”. With “Hi No Tori”, I tried to go in that direction, drawing inspiration from that raw, voodoo and psychedelic universe, while retaining a very organic touch. I’d already reunited Vega Voga and The Limiñanas on the track “Tokoyo No Kuni”, taken from my last album Piscolabis I, and it was obvious that they were the ones to join forces with to bring “Hi No Tori” to life : a fusion of our three worlds between the scorching sun of Perpignan, the arid heat of Spain and the incomparable aesthetics of Japan.”
