French-Dutch producers Douze and Lo Galbo have come together to unveil “Dawn”, an original motion picture soundtrack for a film that exists only in the imagination. The project seeks to capture the nostalgic essence of 1980s cinema, crafting a sonic journey that allows listeners to visualise unique storylines. Inspired by legendary soundtrack pioneers such as Tangerine Dream and Giorgio Moroder, the duo have composed emotive, scene-specific tracks that transport listeners into a world of retro synths and cinematic drama. Each piece acts as a gateway, inviting audiences to explore the emotional peaks and valleys of a fictional film that lives solely in their minds.
Committed to authenticity, “Dawn” was produced almost entirely on vintage analogue hardware, ensuring a rich, warm soundscape true to the era; from the iconic Linndrum to the Moog Minimoog and Roland Juno-60, Douze and Lo Galbo meticulously built their sonic palette using classic instruments. They also employed original recording techniques, such as sampling drums on an Akai X-7000 and tracking takes on a Tascam Porta One 4-track cassette recorder. This dedication to analogue production imbues the soundtrack with a tangible warmth and character that modern plug-ins cannot replicate.

We love the idea of a musical theme being declined under various different ways. Here you can clearly hear that it’s Blondie’s “Call me” but it’s not. That is something we tried to keep in mind while recording our record.
Prince – I Would Die 4 U

It’s hard to talk about soundtracks without mentioning him. Definitely a favourite one of ours!
Jermaine Jackson & Pia Zadora – When the Rain Begins to Fall

A classic, obviously, but so catchy that we couldn’t not mention it. Taken from a real B-Movie, the video is almost better than the whole film.
Dennis McCarthy – Main Title & Final Battle Theme
From: V: The Final Battle (1984) (Music From the Television Mini-Series)
We love how this soundtrack is creepy and spacey at the same time. It could be what Aliens would play on their boombox when leaving their spaceship and setting foot on Earth for the first time (as far as we know).
Michael Sembello – Maniac
From: Flashdance (1983) OST
The drum groove and overall groove of this song is so addictive. And yeah, if we could dance, we would dance to this one all day.
