House Music with Love (HMWL): Sinca, it’s great to have you with us ahead of the release of your remix for Are We Alive by Husa & Zeyada. Let’s start from the beginning: how did this remix opportunity come about, and what made you want to work on this particular track?
Sinca: Thank you for having me!
I met Adam (Husa) a few years ago in Montreal and have always had immense respect for him, his artistry, and his dedication to the music scene. Since the duo Husa & Zeyada was formed, I’ve been a big fan of their work. So when they approached me about remixing Are We Alive I was very enthusiastic. The track has such profound emotional resonance, and I felt it would be an exciting challenge to bring my own sound to it.
HMWL: Can you tell us a bit about your production process for this remix? Were there any moments where you had to step back and rethink your approach, or was it a smooth creative flow?
Sinca: My production process was a mix of inspiration and experimentation. I wanted to ensure that my remix brought something fresh while still connecting with the original’s core emotions and valued Zeyada’s sexy, raw vocals. Once I decided on the unique structure and arrangements of the track, as well as the key elements in each section, everything went very smoothly.
HMWL: What elements of your remix do you think stand out the most? How did you approach translating the original track into your own sound?
Sinca: I think the standout elements of my remix are the arrangement, the driving groove and the layered melodies I integrated. I wanted to capture the sexy yet uplifting spirit of the original while adding a groovy bassline and intricate synth work that reflects my style. This is also the closest I’ve come to creating an Indie Dance track.
Launching Soundscool: Joining Husa & Zeyada’s New Musical Chapter
HMWL: Are We Alive is part of the launch of Husa & Zeyada’s new label, Soundscool, and it’s also their debut release. How does it feel to be part of such a pivotal moment?
Sinca: Being part of the launch of Soundscool is incredibly exciting! It feels like a special opportunity to contribute to something new and fresh in the music scene. I have a lot of respect for Husa and Zeyada, so to be included in this pivotal moment for them is a real honor. I’m thrilled to see where the label goes and hope to somewhat contribute to its success.
HMWL: Being the debut release you get the opportunity to set the tone for the new label. Did the launch of the label influence your approach to your remix?
Sinca: Absolutely! Knowing that this was the debut release for Soundscool pushed me to be more intentional with my remix. I wanted to create something that would not only showcase my style but also reflect the innovative spirit of the label. I felt a sense of responsibility to help establish a strong foundation for the label’s identity right from the start.
Future Projects and Musical Journey
HMWL: What has been your most memorable music moment during this summer?
Sinca: This summer was filled
with amazing experiences, but one moment that stands out was going to Burning Man. The energy and creativity there were unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, and sharing my music in such a unique environment was truly unforgettable. It reminded me of why I love art and this community so much.
HMWL: Balancing DJ gigs and production can be challenging. How do you manage your time between performing and being in the studio, especially during a busy summer season?
Sinca: Yes, it’s definitely a challenge. I manage my time by planning in advance, designating specific days for studio work. I often use travel time to journal, brainstorm ideas or work on melodies, and I go into studio sessions with clear goals to maximize productivity. Also, flexibility is key. I capture inspiration whenever it hits, whether it’s writing down notes or recording ideas on my phone. With a strong support system and a passion for both performing and producing, I’m starting to find the balance.
HMWL: Besides electronic music, what’s your guilty pleasure? Is there something you listen to that would surprise your fans?
Sinca: I have a soft spot for classical music, latin music, and some pop music from the early 2000s! It might surprise some fans, but I think it’s important to draw inspiration from various genres. The storytelling and melodies in those tracks often influence my approach to creating electronic music.
HMWL: Finally, after this release, what can we expect next from you? Any exciting projects in the pipeline?
Sinca: I have several exciting projects in the works: another remix for a fantastic duo and an EP coming in early 2025. Stay tuned!
