Matt Jah is a songwriter, composer and music maker who produces downtempo and organic house tracks on record labels including IONO LOUNGE and Baikal Nomads.
Making a return Baikal Nomads, Matt Jah’s style is a blend of psychedelic atmosphere and tribal percussion with flowing rhythms and a variety of sound textures. This is his second time working with the record label and the release features four new tracks.
His tracks are full of spiritual influence and the release is complimented by a remix from Sadhu Sensi who puts his own spin on things with an impressive rework in the style he has previously featured on Cosmic Awakenings, Katermukke and Amselcom.
“Espiral” is a dreamy track that opens the release with spiralling melodies and builds a trippy ending. “Indigena” is a dramatic and moody track with sounds that spring forth to create a sense of excitement. “Ohm Nay” features Matt Jah’s vocal talents and layers them with a looped guitar sample and some atmospheric flute sounds. “Orizonte” is the last of the four originals and it’s another track with prominent flutes, but this time they are combined with trippy acid synths and jackin’ tribal beats. Last is Sadhu Sensi’s remix of Ohm Nay, which has a new bassline and a deep atmosphere that lets the original’s vocal shine through.
All of the tracks are outstanding productions that showcase Matt Jah to be an exciting talent that we look forward to hearing more from in the future.
