Close friends and collaborators Landikhan and Ed Is Dead stand as two of the most exciting and versatile producers in Spain’s flourishing underground circuit, breeding all-encompassing dance music through an eclectic mix of influences. Wholly multifaceted in their approach to production, the pair have always presented as kindred spirits in the studio and now join forces once again after six years for the release of Cosmic Beat.

Out now via Landikhan’s very own LNDKHN imprint, the cut is deftly hypnotic, championing a luscious blend of deep house, electronica and world music sensibilities. Produced with the afterparty in mind, the track’s measured tempo and unequivocally cool essence make it conducive to both dark, sweaty clubs and at-home listening. Built on a foundation of deep tech percussion, we’re treated to a spontaneous dose of ethnic tones and acid synths, giving the record a sense of intrigue around every corner. But it is perhaps the mesmeric vocal line that gives Cosmic Beat its true identity; deeply-alluring spoken word that weaves in and out of the pair’s respective sound design elements.

We caught up with the LDNKHN founder to find out more…

Hi Landikhan and welcome to House Music With Love. How are you today?

Hello everyone. The truth is that everything is super. I have woken up here in Madrid, in my hometown, it seems that summer is approaching and the air smells that it is going to be an incredible season

For those that don’t know your story, please can you tell us a little bit about your background and how you came to be a musician.

I have been in the world of music full time for more than 15 years. At another time in my life I dedicated myself to the world of tennis, but I was always a great music enthusiast, either as a listener and little by little as a selector, producer and DJ. It’s all been part of a journey and a very slow process to get to where I am right now.

What inspires you the most when making music? And how do you stay inspired?

I am inspired by places, people and I am always very influenced by the music I listen to at the moment, as I am always listening to music of very different types.

To be honest the genre I listen to the least is electronica but I always try to mix all kinds of genres and influences in the music I’m making. I always try to learn and be inspired because I am always listening to music that always gives me another perspective and many ideas.

What would you say has been your biggest career highlight to date?

I could not cite a single highlight, because the highlights change as time goes by. I like to be able to enjoy the little things. To enjoy and be aware of the things that are happening is the highlight itself.

What is the coolest venue you have ever played and why was it so special?

For me, my most special place is Woomoon in Cova Santa Ibiza. It is the place that has seen me grow, where I have shared incredible moments with the public, surrounded by friends and people who love me.

What can you tell us about your new single ’Cosmic Beat’ with Ed Is Dead?

It is tremendously incredible to be able to sit in the studio again with whom, apart from being one of my best friends, is the best producer I know.

I am very happy and pleased with how the song has turned out.

What was the production process like? Were you actually working together in the same studio?

The process has been tremendously simple. We were clear about the path, the elements and where we wanted the direction of the song to go.

I have been working in the Ed is Dead at Octopvs To The Party’s studio for many years. It is an incredible studio called Fashion Beat Team that is located in Madrid.

Beyond the new single release, what is coming up next in the world of Landikhan?

A lot of new music is coming, including original songs, remixes and collaborations on my favorite labels and on my own label as well. I have more than 15 new songs prepared for this year

Madrid, Gran Canaria, Mykonos, Ibiza, Rome, Tirana, Jale, and many more places

Where is the best place to stay up to date with you?

Always in Ibiza, it is my favorite place in the world and if you want to find me whenever I can I am there
