HMWL: Hello Jenya, welcome to House Music With Love. Where are we speaking to you from today?
Heard Right: Hello everyone, now I am in my native country called Belarus and I live in a small town called
Dyatlovo. I feel very comfortable here.
HMWL: For our readers that aren’t familiar with your sound, can you tell us a little bit about your artistic
journey so far?
Heard Right: My first release came out in 2018, it was a progressive trance track, after a short period of time I
decided that melodic house music is what is close to me and I am still working in this direction.
Basically, my sound is with a straight kick and a light sound. Usually these are tracks in the range
from 118 to 124bpm. I have releases on labels such as Purified, Colorize, Monstercat Silk.
HMWL: How did you decide on the name Heard Right? Is there a story behind it?
Heard Right: Sometime in 2017 I saw a release from J-Trick X Tom Budin called Heard Right. At that moment, I
was thinking about my new project and looking for a name for it. I thought this name was perfect for
me. Pretty simple but funny story.
HMWL: Who are the artists that helped to lead you on the path of becoming a producer?
Heard Right: This is definitely ATB. His music has always inspired and still inspires. The kind of melodies that
he makes is something incredible and magical.
HMWL: You are gearing up to release your two-track Moth EP on Purified Records. Can you tell us a little
bit about this release and how it came about?
Heard Right: The lead single was made during the writing of my first album. I thought that this track is better
to release later and not as part of the album. So, after a while I sent this track to Richard Walters and
we made a beautiful track where the music and the words complement each other perfectly. The
second track called ‘Theory of Charms’ is a good addition to this release and I hope listeners will like
this EP.
HMWL: You released your debut album Dreams on Purified last year. Can you tell us about this body of
work and how it was collaborating with such a variety of singers and producers?
Heard Right: ‘Dreams’ album is my biggest and most special release so far. Working with the label team and
all the musicians who are a big part of my album was just amazing. It’s an incredible experience that
will be remembered for a lifetime. And I look forward to doing something like that again 🙂
HMWL: You recently reworked Super 8 & Tab’s track Start Again, which is very beautiful! Can you tell us
how this remix came about?
Heard Right: When I heard the original I immediately had an idea that it would be nice to try to make a remix
of this track. I made a request to the guys’ manager and asked about the possibility to make an
official remix, after a while I was given the green light and I made my remix. A year later it was
released and I’m very happy about it. Thanks to the boys and their manager for giving me the
opportunity to express myself.
HMWL: How do you stay inspired to create new music? Do you have any studio rituals that help you to get
into the zone?
Heard Right: I don’t have any special rituals for staying inspired. The main thing is not to overload yourself
and to give yourself time to rest. I try to avoid big pauses as well, as it’s hard to get into the
workflow afterwards and it takes some time.
HMWL: What else do you have coming up on the horizon? Any new projects you can speak about?
Heard Right: I don’t think listeners should expect any really big projects from me in the near future. Mostly it
will be the usual releases on my favorite labels and collaborations with my friends and cool vocalists,
which are scheduled for a few months in advance. I would also like to take this opportunity to
announce that at the end of last year I started a new project called Holen, where I can afford to do
slightly different things but stick to my main melodic direction.
HMWL: Any final words you would like to share with our readers?
HR: I wish everyone to be healthy and happy. Spend more time with your closest people and listen
to good music. Bye 🙂
