German Brigante and Yamil drop a debut collaboration EP via Sol Selectas.

The pair of Spanish artists have both released on Sol Selectas in the past, and their new EP features three of their original cuts alongside remixes by Amine K and Mr. ID.

This themed release is influenced by the traditional music of Morocco, which is a place that the original artists both share a passion for, and it’s the country that the remix artists are both from.

Spain and Morocco share a border and also have lots of cultural similarities. Each of the original tracks on this release has traditional Moroccan instruments and vocals in the country’s native tongue.

German Brigante has released a range of styles in his extensive music career, but is currently focusing his music towards melodic house with organic textures. Yamil is well-known for his organic house style, but also experiments with downtempo and electronic.

Together the two original artists have a complementary sound that have manifested on this release into Afro house with strong percussion and the Arabic melodies of Morocco.

“Kibo” is first on the release and it has a unique sound fuelled by the tones of an incredible bassline, and its dramatic percussion fills give it a great upbeat groove. The remix by Mr. ID works in some extra drum sounds to really bring out the Afro groove of the original.

“Basari” is the release’s title track, and it’s got a funky bassline and mythical vocal chants. Amine K adds some extra synth parts to create a melodic version that complements the percussive vibe of the original.

“Gnawa” is the last track on the release, and it’s a reinterpretation of a classic Berber tune that’s traditional to Moroccan folk law.
