Following the remarkable international success of his latest Tsona and Hayibo EP, prolific Belgian producer MAXI MERAKI now continues his impressive run of first rate studio output with the announcement of his latest sure-fire hit record, Dare Your Move. Out now via Spinnin’ Deep, Dare Your Move marks MAXI MERAKI’s eagerly anticipated debut outing on the long-standing Dutch imprint, following a run of critically acclaimed releases on the likes of Nervous Records, Sudam Recordings, Go Deeva and Tensnake’s True Romance Records. We caught up with the man himself to find out more!

Hi Maxi and welcome to House Music With Love. How are you today?

Hi thanks and again for the interview! I’m doing great and hopefully so do you?

For those that don’t know your story, please can you tell us a little bit about your background and how you came to be a musician.

I’ve started playing music a few years ago and only released my first track in 2019. Music used to be more of a hobby as I studied economics and completed my internships in China. So you can say this was a completely different start of my ‘career’.

Who have been your biggest supporters in your career so far?

Over the years I off course had friends and family supporting me. But what I’ve learned the most is that it all starts by believing in your own vision and sound! Never stop dreaming and always keep on pushing.

What inspires you the most when making music? And how do you stay inspired?

I’m always listening to music while I’m cooking, in the car, on the road,… it inspires me to listen to more commercial pop songs, but also disco and even hiphop sometimes.

What would you say has been your biggest career highlight to date?

This year I was more than proud to make my debut at Tomorrowland; opening the second biggest stage of the festival: Eric Prydz Holo show.

What can you tell us about your new single Dare Your Move?

To make it a more underground version I didn’t want to put to much vocals; but more building up the tension and keep the vocals for the break. Also the track has this more housy music vibe which makes it a danceable track for all music lovers.

If you could put on your own show anywhere in the world, where would it be and who would you have join you on the lineup?

Since I’ve been visiting the magical island Ibiza for some years now; I must say that would be a true dream playing there. But don’t ask me for a specific club! (Haha) I’ve enjoyed several nights in different clubs on the island!

Beyond the new single release, what is coming up next in the world of Maxi Meraki?

A lot of new music is coming up! I’m very much looking forward to my follow-up EP on Tensnake’s label True Romance Records.
