Hive Audio is never one to serve up staid and boring club tracks, and this next release is no different – it comes from Danish producer KANT (see our 10 artists to watch in 2015 list), who before now has played all over the world in 2014 and counts his biggest fan as none other than Pete Tong on Radio One. The two new cuts he serves up here come with a remix from Animal Trainer and follow on from his great previous releases.

Up first is Dyster, a deep and broody house cut with percussive tension buried deep in its bones. Groaning synths and various pads explode in colour but overall the mood is heads down and dirty. Label Regulars Animal Trainer spice up the cut with their great remix, which comes with wooden hits and pained vocal cry. The synths are still supple and elastic and the vibe is still destined for back rooms everywhere. The other original is Mirrors, a more tense and stark cut with coarse pads obscuring a tortured vocal. Future synth lines cut through the mix and this one is all about peak time energy. Overall, then, another fine outing from this top label.
