Sailor & I – Turn Around (Including Âme Remix)

Sailor__I_Turn_Around

Hailed as one of the tracks of the year already by many in the dance community, this soothing and progressive track is an unbelievable production. Ame’s remix beautifully incorporates the vocals with a bass driven uplifting beat. I first heard Turn Around at Defected in the House at Ministry of Sound, Nic Fancuilli played it and the moment it began everyone in the room was captured by the bassline and the vocals.

I struggled to get my phone out of my pocket to quickly try and shazam it, holding my phone above my head swaying like someone would with a zippo lighter at a rock concert. Everyone was screaming as it built up with the beat of the snare and synths. Dixon, Maceo Plex, Solomun have also played this track and Sasha used it recently to close his set with a crowd of house enthusiasts going crazy.

Released on Life and Death only one month ago for a small label is has exploded. Mixmag contributed to this by posting an article about this track on their website. In the ‘Turn Around’ EP it includes the original track which has a much higher tempo and is contains large amounts of strings, it still offers the same dream-like state you get from the Ame remix. The final track on the ‘Sailor & I – Turn Around’ EP is called Boys & Girls and is aslowed-down mournful and yet beautiful nostalgic tale of childhood days gone by.

Sailor & I released their first single on the UK’s label BlackButter with their ‘Tough Love’ EP. Sailor and I is made up of Alexander Sjodin from Sweden who says “Sailor & I is a metaphor for two wills inside a person that are fighting one another.”

Out now on Life & Death.
