Natten – Omen EP [28th March, DIY-released]

Natten

Stockholm’s semisecret superband keeps delivering top quality music. Natten generate the sound of dark shadowlands somewhere between Pink floyd and Nicolas Jaar’s Darkside. According to Fredrik, Jan, Robin and Arvid their music is best to be classified as Psychonaut disco.

Beduin starts slow and builds up steady into a full-on dervish dance. Helvetet (Hell in swedish) aims towards the dark night sky with majestic percussion, hard hitting kick-drum and a full blown bouquet of horns. Disco Anticimex brings on a somewhat more dubby and deep approach with a lazy freestyle piano in the break and mesmerizing saxophone that takes the drops higher and higher. Anarkisten is the most mellow, relaxed, deep-breathing track on the EP with somewhat popish stabs and fairytale atmoshpere. Arvids trumpet binds the four tracks together into one live breathing organism straight out of your absinth nightmare. Or is it all a pleasant dream?
