This year will be the 11th year Electronic Soundclash is held at December 25th and it has become a real Christmas tradition for many people living in, and around, Malmö. Everyone is happy and have much energy after eating a lot of HCHF (High Calorie High Fat) Christmas food. Combine that with artists as Ticon and Martinez and you will have a success for sure.
Ticon consists of Filip Mardberg and Fredrik Gilenholt. They teamed up as early as 1991 when they find out to have the same interests for underground music. The project Ticon was founded in 1999 when they were contacted by Malmö based label Digital Structures. Since then they have made an excellent executed balancing act between different genres. Ticon have released huge amount of tracks for example in 2000 the psy/progressive trance tracks ‘Tekk No’ on Tip records and ‘Deep Fried Cricket’ on Digital structures. On Digital structures they released several albums for example Aero in 2003 and 2am in 2008.
During the years Ticon have been very popular at the psy-trance live scene. But nowadays they have more and more slipped into other genres. In 2006 they released the tech house tracks ‘In Stereo’ on INgrooves and in 2008 the electro house track ‘Models on cocaine’ on Digital structures. ‘The programmer’ is a another great track released in 2011 on Iboga records. Last year Ticon came out with the progressive house track ‘Nefertiti’ on Baroque Records. Live Ticon are real performers. They are well aware of the audience and they give everything on the stage. Ticons live sets usually reflects their career with a smooth overlapping through different genres but always with a danceable touch.
Martinez (Martin Swanstein) is a house and techno DJ and music producer. Martin played different instruments as a youngster so to start producing music was not such a big step. In 2001 he released ‘Autumn Jazz EP’ on the Swedish label Deplay music. Around that time Martinez also started to do remixes for famous artists such as Seth Troxler and Joel Mull. In Martinez earlier career his music had a jazz touch to it, but in 2003 he started to experiment with a more techier sound. A year later Martinez launched his own label Out of orbit recordings which he has released massive amount of tracks on for example ‘Cloudstepping’ and ‘Waiting for now’, both in 2005. Re:connected is the name of one of Martinez other labels which he launched in 2006 for his more minimal and techno inspired releases like ‘Land crab’ in 2007 and ‘Rotation’ in 2008. Martinez has also released tracks on famous labels such as Cadenza, True soul and Cocoon recordings. This year has been a busy one for Martinez with a lot of gigs on renowned clubs like Amnesia (ES), Club Space (US), Fabric (UK) and Culture Box (DK).
Other DJs that will play on this event are Armando Mendes, Vision Factory, Jimi Disko and Martin Brodin. Jimi and Martin are the people behind the event and so have been since its start up. Be prepared to a great evening with that little extra!
