There are few record labels with better artwork and groovier podcasts than Steyoyoke. Keinemusik and Ghostly International are probably the front runners in the art department, but that is still pretty damn good company to be in.
This collection of remixes from some of the labels brightest standouts is a fairly accurate representation of what Steyoyoke is producing at the moment; relatable, modern, and above all groovy house music. Whether you find yourself bobbing to the synth driven MPathy remix of Sasch’s “Hearts & Minds”, falling under the spell of the cello in Soul Button’s remix of “Treibholz”, or the melody of Dahu’s remix of “Come To Me” is making you miss those late nights on the crowded sweaty dancefloor, this collection of tracks is oozing with grooves.
Incredibly current, this release seems to have been made for those marathon dance floor sessions. Any one of these could be the sound that gives you the metaphorical splash of cold water to the face, just as you start contemplating leaving the club for your cozy bed. While none has the makings of a commercial giant (don’t worry, that’s a good thing), each track is crafted to play that pivotal role of keeping you moving forward and distracted from the rest of the world.
