We just found a fantastic new house EP in our promo pool.  From Manchester based underground house label – Resonance Records arrives a new release courtesy of the most capable hands of label’s newcomers Walker & Royce, who together will the majestically named Pow! Pow!, serve up RR011, the Drive E.P. And what a journey it brings us on.

The Deep strands of the original come equipped and fully loaded with a barrage of quite brilliant synth line and in indecipherable vocal that adds more than a dose of heady gloss. It might sound to close to good old deep house sound with mystic vocals over it a lá Maceo Plex or Mekanism, but we can’t help loving it since we are big fans of  this kind of sound.

If the first track and the remixes fall into a certain “I’ve heard this before category”, ”Poindexter” then completes the potent equation. The sound is new, fresh and different. It’s funky, percussion driven groove that definitely stands out of the regular tech house crowd. The vocals going “So this girl tells me I saw you playing chess on your iphone. And I – I love chess! I said if she is into chess she must have some idea for higher mathematics” will definetely bring some smiles to the dancefloors.

Walker & Royce, Pow! Pow! – Drive is out soon on Resonance Records.
