Originally from Sweden, Johanna Knutsson now calls the musical epicenter that is Berlin home. Following her 2011 debut release is Support EP, out March 30th on Klass Recordings. Knutsson’s two original works offer a playful dichotomy to one another. While “Groove Support” features a playful piano laden throughout giving the track a light and 70’s disco-funk nostalgia, “Dub Support” features a deep driving bass that screams Berlin underground. The standout of the two remixes on the EP features Esther Duijn’s percussion driven take on “Dub Support,” which leaves you longing for the latenight afterhours scene. Knutsson manages to wonderfully capture the essence of two cities that have shaped the sound of electronic music; Chicago and Berlin, while injecting her own unique style.
