There is a new rising star in the kingdom of Denmark. Joachim Sharup, better known by his DJ Monicker KANT has been feeding the underground music scene with majestic releases on labels such as Suara, Hive Audio, Toolroom and Kattermukke as well as remixes for the likes of Ten Walls and Tomas Barfod. We kindly asked Joachim to record a mixtape for HMWL podcast while on tour in Australia and Indonesia and tell us a bit about his views on the noble artwork of music.
HMWL: Tell us how long you have been in the music scene, DJing and producing?
Producing & Djing under the name of KANT for 2 years now.
If you need to get out of the studio and clear your head, do you listen to any other music than electronic?
Some good old Jazz & Soul records always do the job.
Copenhagen seems to be very much on the move lately?. What do you think about the new producer generation like Lou Van, Jesper Ryom?
The scene is definitely evolving and on a good way. Lou Van is not only a great producer but also a very close friend of mine.
You are currently on tour, what is the most amazing place you’ve visited so far?
I would say playing at the Karma Beach in Bali, Indonesia was a highlight for sure.
How do you stay motivated musically? What’s influencing you a lot these days?
Hard to say but you always learn and experience a lot from touring and receiving feedback from the audience.
What 5 tracks are you really playing on rotation right now?
