Hope you enjoyed this summer’s festivals marathon including Way Out West, Fusion, Secret Island Nation, Tomorrowland and Rainbow Fields. We sure did.
Our podcast is back on line and we celebrate the end of festival season by bringing you a mix by one of the Arvika originators. Arvika Festivalen was one of Sweden’s most influential festivals. At least while it lasted: 1992 – 2010. Emphasising synth and electronica bookings including early house and techno the festival has hosted artists like Depeche Mode, S.P.O.C.K, The Knife, Failthless, Röyksopp, Fever Ray, Air Bureu, Dj La Fleur, Dada Life, Infected Mushroom, MSTRKFT, Style of Eye, Chromeo and many more. In many way, the Swedish and Scandinavian electronic scene today is partly formed by the bookings and music policy of Arvika during the those 18 years.
One of the original fathers of the festival moved on onto a journey of techno. With two recent releases – one as Fredrik Horst on Fonografiska and a compilation project called The Sound of Arvika on his very own Drevkollektivet label.
